In and Around Victoria

Hello everybody Maya here! We have settled in to Canada now, I have been having fun with dad while mum has been brining in the biccies - although I haven't seen any biccies. Mum has had some crazy temping jobs - working on the phones at a Ford car yard and a BMW car yard, stuffing envelopes at a travel agency and now data entry at a electrical products manufacturer. Mum is also enjoying working with Keiron, on Friday night they are going out to Karoke which should be funny. Dad has had his birthday and has been taking heaps of photos and doing fun stuff with me, mum reckons he is a good house hubby. Dad and I have been to a few beaches and to almost all the parks in town. I have really enjoyed the baby goats at the Beacon Hill Park farm and I love the seals. We have been camping at Sooke and Dad went away for uncle Jimmy's bucks party. Dad has also been brewing beer - ask him all about it! Enjoy the latest photos!

Terrific Tofino

Ahh Tofino - what a magnificent place, after a week of camping here it was very hard to leave and we had dreams of living by the sea in this georgeous little town. Tofino is on the west coast of Vancouver island about 5oo kms north of Victoria. On one side is the pacific ocean and on the other a maze of a bay complete with river inlets and islands. Tofino is the start of Clayoquot Sound, and internationally recognised area of environmental significance. Why did we love it? Huge trees, bears, otters, candied salmon, whales, cute houses, friendly locals, great camp site, rocky beaches and cuppas looking out to sea.

Its good to be out of the car after a long drive
Campsites are quite manicured as the bush is so thick

View from our favourite coffee shop
Big Beautiful Bald Eagles can be watched while relaxing on the beach
A juvenile
Mum and her 3 Black Bear cubs feeding on seafood at low tide
This area was the draft dogers paradise during the vietnam war, heaps of hippies and houses made in trees and from old boats

Checking out the big Douglas Firs and Red Cedars
One of the many systems of boardwalks through these sensitive areas.
The timbers have many scratches from claws of bears and other beasties.Another great campsite frequented by Bears, Wolves and Cougars, although we didnt see any they probably saw us !!

Some areas of forest (the woods) are covered in old mans beard,
